Habaq’s taste is a fusion of mint and basil with a refreshing and distinctive smell. This is a unique taste of Aqaba that you don’t want to miss.

This is a favorite of Aqaba locals, families take their home-cooked dinner and enjoy it to the sound of the gentle waves. Join the Aqabawi families for a sahra ala al shat (night on the beach).
Have sweet tooth?
Try the Hooh. Aqabawi sweet that, until the day, is only made by Aqabawi ladies at home. Hooh is made of multiple thin baked layers of dough dipped in the local lard, pistachios or almonds are sprinkled between the layers and on the top, and finally sugar syrup is poured generously to soak the baked dough. The Hooh is both crispy and moist and is usually eaten by hands. Hooh is prepared by the Aqabawi ladies on special occasions such as Eid holidays, weddings, or for special guests. Some ladiearound the city prepare the Hooh on request, so why not call for an exclusive Aqabawi dessert.
Morning means fresh
Go shopping at the vegetable market downtown. Buy fruits, vegetables, and freshly picked Rocca, mint, and wild basil (Habaq). Meet locals and chat with friendly shopkeepers.

No one leaves Aqaba without a bag of Nuts. Nut shops are landmarks of the downtown market and prices are reasonable too.
