  • Aqaba & the Royal Jordanian Geographic Center sign a Memorandum of Understanding

The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and the Royal Jordanian Geographic Center started the implementation of a smart phone application for the Wadi Rum protected area . The application aims to provide visitors with information about the tourist routes and trails that the reserve offers,  allowing them to explore the reserve before and during their visit using the virtual reality technology.  it will also provide visitors with all the information needed about the tourist sites and services in the area. This comes as the fruit of the signed memorandum of understanding, signed by both parties represented by  the Chief commissioner, Eng. Nayef Bakhit, and for the Geographical Center, the Director General, Colonel Muammar Kamel Haddadin.


H.E Mr.Bakhit said that the memorandum aims to enhance cooperation between ASEZA and RJGC in various types of aerial photography projects, smart phone applications, remote sensing, geographic information systems, surveys, and printing of specialized and varied brochures and pamphlets.


He added that the memorandum also aims to cooperate in the fields of training for ASEZA’s cadres in the field of foundational and advanced surveying using total station, the use of the Global Positioning System (GPS), geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing and their applications.



The Director General of the Geographical Center, Colonel Muammar Haddadin, confirmed that the center is a strategic partner in achieving development for all our national institutions by providing them with the needs of maps, aerial and space images, geographical information, topographic surveys and applied research, indicating that the latest techniques of aerial photography will be used, especially infrared photography.
